Early Talk is ICAN’s highly successful training and accreditation programme aimed at the early year’s workforce in partnership with parents to support the communication needs of children from birth to age 5. Practitioners working with groups of 3 to 4-year-olds with delayed language. The programme aims to accelerate children’s progress in language and communication by an average of six months, after a nine-week intervention.

The programme supports your child’s development in several ways including building confidence to speak and reply, improve language and communication with peers, to develop stronger social skills e.g. taking turns, what happens next. Each week’s different fun activities, song and story give your child a sense of routine and they look forward to seeing what’s happening next!
We run the ICAN 9-week programme with a maximum group of 10 children (split into morning and afternoon group’s). This starts by inviting families to a parent/carer 30min workshop to explain the programme. Each week is led by a staff member and the next book is given out for use at home. At the end of the 9 weeks, you are invited back to see our nursery scrapbook with all the activities and watch your child being presented with their certificate.
